Reaffirming Faith During the U.S. Election
Seek and ye shall find
Next Tuesday ends the lead up to the 2024 U.S. Presidential election. While many have already voted early across our country, November 5th will conclude the active part of this election. Two weeks ago, I dedicated myself to writing about the stakes of this challenging time and publishing an article a day on Medium. I am two-thirds of the way to the finish line. I’ve researched and penned 11 articles, the tail end of which are pretty dark.
I fear what will happen on November 5th and the several months that will follow it into January, when we will inaugurate a new leader. I intentionally don’t say “president” because one of the potential candidates may choose another title — like dictator, king, or savior.
Today I wanted to find my way to writing something hopeful; I wanted to feel hopeful.
I’m physically and emotionally exhausted from the stress of my world’s chaos, from touching the suffering of so many people across the globe, for whom getting from sun up to sun down is a daily struggle. I am a person of faith; my spiritual grounding nourishes me when I struggle, soothes me when I’m afraid, comforts me when I cry, holds me close when I lose hope.
Amazingly, my faith and spirituality guided me down the right rabbit hole today…
