MAGA: Oh, I get it now…
America was great when it was whiter
A week and a half ago, I challenged myself to write an article about the U.S. Presidential election each day until the election. I am not a journalist, a politician, or particularly knowledgeable in history or government. The only way I can write relevant articles is by doing the research. Unfortunately, when I do research, I’m like the kid who asks why, over and over, until the parent is pulling their hair out, roots and all. In this case, I am both the parent and the child. Pretty schizophrenic, huh?
Today’s writing began with several questions chasing themselves around in my head, followed by several hours of research. I found some great resources and confirmed that my questions are inter-connected and inseparable.
The questions swirling around in my head:
· Why do some people love diversity and others see it as the enemy?
· Why is whiteness revered by some and unimportant to others?
· Why can’t MAGA supporters see Trump for the person that he is?
· How can I help communicate truth across the political divide?
· If love is the answer, how come people seem to prefer hate?
