Kamala’s Comin’ Up-2024 Election
A playlist celebrating women, our music, and our power
I wasn’t going to write today, November 5th, 2024. My goal was to write every day for the three weeks running up to the election, and I finished doing that yesterday. I didn’t want to get to election day and feel like I should have done something, but I couldn’t figure out what to do… what felt right.
And then on October 11th, it came to me. I needed to write about the election, why it was important, what it meant to me, how it would affect the world. Looking back, I think I needed to spend time processing where we’re at as a country, and where I am as an individual. I wanted to feel like I was ready for whatever would happen.
I started on October 14th, and I finished yesterday. I researched, wrote, and sifted through piles of info, edited, cried, connected with new people, and published 16 articles on Medium. I’m here, it’s election day, and I can say with complete honesty I am NOT ready for whatever will happen. I am not ready for a possible Trump win.
No matter what I do, I can’t get myself to feel OK about him being president again. But what I really can’t wrap my brain around isn’t him. It’s the 80 million people who will have voted for him if he wins.
